How does laser hair removal work?
Laser hair removal works by using energy targeted to heat the hair follicle. Because of the presence of melanin, the pigment that colors skin and hair, light energy is absorbed by the follicle more than by surrounding tissue, causing the follicle to grow hot. This heat destroys the follicle’s ability to produce hair leaving the treated area hairless. The laser mostly targets the hair follicle and does little damage to surrounding tissue.
Elos Technology by Syneron is the most advanced laser hair removal system because it uses more than just laser energy to target the follicle. The Elos system adds radio frequency energy, which targets the follicle tissue and not just the melanin, making laser hair removal more effective on darker skin tones and lighter hair. Now, laser hair removal is perfect for any skin tone and hair type. With Elos technology, people of all skin and hair colors experience better results with less discomfort.

Several treatments are required to achieve the maximum potential of laser hair removal. The amount and frequency of treatments depends on many factors such as the texture of the hair, the area being treated, and the skin type. Laser hair removal will drastically reduce the amount of hair on any given area. However, this procedure may not remove all the hair. White to blonde hair may grow back in about a year and additional treatments will be necessary. Thick, dark hair responds to this treatment the best and is significantly reduced in a few treatments.
