Breast Implants and Augmentation - FAQ

What size will my new breasts be?
The results you want and your body type determine this. Most women want fuller, firmer breasts – but they do not want their new breasts to appear “fake.” We specialize in this and will work with you to determine what size is best for you.

Will there be a scar?
Yes, but the scar will be minimal and in a very inconspicuous area.

Where will the scar be?
The incision is often made either in the armpit, through the areola, or under the breast.

What type of breast implant is used?
In the majority of cases, a saline breast implant is used. Saline is salt water, and occurs naturally in the body. It is non-toxic. Occasionally, silicone breast implants may be an option. We can discuss this further during your free confidential consultation.

What if the breast implant breaks?
This only happens in very extreme situations – such as car accidents or other situations where there is significant breast trauma. Because saline is non-toxic, there are no life-threatening effects of a broken breast implant.

What is the recovery process like?
Typically, you’ll have absorbable stitches. Most patients return to work activities within a few days. During that time, you’ll have to wear a special bra. For a couple of weeks, you’ll experience soreness and have to avoid any activity where you might potentially receive a blow to the chest.

Do both breasts have to be augmented?
No. If one breast is naturally larger than the other, breast augmentation surgery can be used to achieve a more symmetrical appearance.

How much do breast implants cost?
This can only be determined after a personal consultation from our surgeons. Click here for general breast implant financing information.
