Breast Surgery

Breast surgery is the most common type of procedure we perform at the Utah Cosmetic Surgery center, and it is also what we are best known for. For over two decades, we have performed thousands of successful operations.

There are four basic types of breast surgery:

Breast Enlargement

This is a procedure that augments the size of the breasts. They can be enlarged to a number of different sizes. In most cases, saline breast implants are used. The size of the new breasts is determined by the patient’s wishes and body shape – our goal is to create the most natural-looking breasts possible.

Breast enlargement surgery is also an excellent option in any situation where one breast is larger than the other – a breast implant can be inserted into just one breast, creating breast symmetry.

Breast Reduction

During breast reduction surgery, breast tissue, fat and skin can be removed from breasts in order to decrease their size. Often, women with very large breasts find themselves suffering from back, chest, and mobility problems. Breasts can be reduced to almost any size – the end result depends on both the patient’s wishes and body type.

Breast Reconstruction

If a breast has been damaged or removed due to an accident or disease, that breast can be reconstructed. Often, tissue is taken from elsewhere in the body and molded into a new breast. The new breasts can be virtually any size – it all depends on the individual patient’s body type. Often, breast reconstruction surgery is used in conjunction with the insertion of saline breast implants. The most common candidate for this procedure is a women who has undergone a mastectomy, although it is a perfectly appropriate procedure for virtually any woman who has lost a significant amount of breast tissue.

Male Breast Reduction

Breast reduction surgery is not just for women. There are many men who have large, unwanted breasts. This can be the result of a medical condition, genetics, obesity, or drug abuse. Regardless of the cause, male breast reduction – usually a condition called gynecomastia – involves the removal of tissue and/or fat from the breast area until the chest appears smaller, with less overhang or droop.
