Laser Skin Treatment & Vascular Lesion Treatment

Welcome to the Utah Cosmetic Surgery website, please upgrade your Flash Plugin and enable JavaScript.

Permanent red areas on the surface of the skin, sometimes very dark red, are called vascular lesions. These lesions can develop over time or may have been present since birth. They can be safely and effectively removed with non-invasive procedures, giving you beautiful skin and an even skin tone.

They are typically red to deep purple in color, and can darken over time. Vascular lesions do not go away on their own, and while most are harmless, some can progress and become very serious, impairing vision or breathing.

What are Vascular Lesions?

Vascular lesions are the result of abnormal blood vessels and include:

  • Port wine stains
  • Hemangiomas
  • Broken capillaries
  • Cherry angiomas

Benefits

Removing vascular lesions can restore your beautiful, even skin tone, or if you have had the lesion since birth, can give you the look you have always wanted, boosting your self-confidence and improving your overall enjoyment of life. The treatment itself is gentle and safe yet very effective and permanent.

How it Works

We use light energy set to a specific frequency that targets the darker cells, leaving the lighter surrounding cells unharmed. The energy is absorbed by the hemoglobin in the red blood cells of the abnormal vessel which cause the lesion and they shut down. The discoloration is then absorbed by your body.

At Utah Cosmetic Laser & Aesthetics, Cosmetic Surgeon Dr. Haupt can help you get rid of many types of discoloration, including mild to severe unwanted redness. Vascular lesions are on the most extreme end of unwanted redness, but fortunately they can be treated without surgery or other invasive procedures. Our vascular lesion treatments not only remove the discoloration, but in the process your skin is rejuvenated and overall texture and elasticity is improved.
